RESEARCH

The main topic of Tomáš´s research is to develop general purpose non-resonant sample holder for broadband Electron Paramagnetic Resonance spectrometer based on THz rapid frequency scans (THz-FRaScan-EPR). Thanks to the developed sample holder the THz-FraScan-EPR spectrometer will allow multi-frequency relaxation studies of variety of samples ranging from oriented bulk (crystal) materials, over powdered samples to air sensitive samples and liquid solutions. Part of the proposed sample holder is also the implementation of a carousel sample holder for a planned 6 samples that can be varied during the measurement. This greatly reduces the time required for sample swapping performed inside the cavity and the re-cooling of the magnet area is unnecessary. This sample holder allows also the samples to be compared at the same surroundings. The new sample holder should primary operate at frequencies between 80 GHz to 1100GHz, at temperatures from 1.8 K to 300 K and at magnetic field up to 16 T, capable to perform Far Infrared studies in the future.
